The European Commission's own machine translation project (1978 - 1992)

It is very unfortunate that this project took place before the web took off, not only because this would have made the whole operation of the project much more efficient, but also because those who want to know more about this unique adventure have to do quite a lot of archaeological work in order to find some bits and pieces.

I will try to collect some pointers to publicly available material that will give a global impression of this project. This page will grow incrementally, I hope.
