The total number of Mvskoke language speakers is not definite, but I have conducted several surveys and held focus groups with elders over the years to determine the estimated number of speakers to 200. Ninety-five percent of the those speakers are 65 years of age or older.
How is the community organisedThe Muscogee (Creek) Nation is a federally recognized tribe with its own Constitution and government to include an executive, legislative, and judicial branches. The College of the Muscogee Nation is located in the capital city of Okmulgee, OK and serves as the institution of higher education for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation as designated by the Constitution.
